Case Study
Caroline Gilmour is a singer songwriter who was playing in Edinburgh.
She came to Windmill Sound having some songs, a voice, an acoustic guitar, and a fixed budget.
She wanted the full production works for her album.
Daniel went to see her perform live, and later sat down with her, discussed her musical history and tastes, and aspirations for the album.
Together they worked through her songs picking the most commercial songs with an eye for the balance and variety required by an album.
They discussed the budget, from which Daniel worked out a detailed project plan involving time for arranging the music, recording parts, hiring session musicians (and also helping her put together a band for live shows), editing, mixing, mastering, and approval.
The songs were arranged and recorded with sensitivity to her songs and in line with her musical tastes.
Caroline was kept informed, involved, and updated at all stages in the process and frequently came in to hear progress, give suggestions, approval, or requests for changes.
The album was completed on time, in budget and Caroline is extremely happy with the results.
Caroline's album 'Some Day' will be released in February 2009.
